Our Jacksonville Zoo field trip is this Friday.
Xtra Math: Please remember to have your child do Xtra Math Monday though Friday. This is a daily homework assignment. If your computer crashes, etc., please just send me a note so your child can be excused for that night's practice.
Students need to choose any chapter book on their grade level and have it approved by me. Students should read the book and take the Reading Counts test on the book by May 24th.
Reading: We will continue reading Everything on a Waffle. The next vocabulary test is on Tuesday. Please encourage your child to make sure he or she answers the written comprehension questions fully and in complete sentences. We have been working hard in class on these skills to prepare the students for fourth grade accelerated reading.

Cursive Handwriting: Students need to work on slowing down to improve neatness.
Language: We will be reviewing what we have learned this year. The last test is on Thursday.
Spelling: Please make sure your child leaves the spelling workbook in his/her binder. We will learn the words in Lesson 30 this week. Students must also know the definitions for the vocabulary words and how to spell the words that are part of the definition. Under the spelling grade on each test is a grade (S, W, N, or U) for their cursive. You can go to www.spellingcity.com for online practice of the grade level spelling words each week. Just go "Find a List" and then for the teacher type in "Brenda Speir." All the lists for the entire year will appear. Just choose the one for this week.
Writing: This week we will be writing lemonade stories. These will be posted in Eckburg Center in preparation for the author visit next week.
Timed Tests: We are done with timed tests for the year. Please continue to do XtraMath so that students are continuing to make progress.
Math: We will cover lessons 11-6 through 11-9.
Science: We will finish Unit B Chapter 2. Students will receive a study guide this week, and we will review for the test. The test will be on Monday, May 20th.
Bible: (Test is on Thursday due to the Field Trip.) John 14:2 "My Father's house has many rooms; it that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?"
