The accelerated group will be reading Frindle for the next few weeks.
Cursive Handwriting: We have reviewed all the letters. Some students need extra practice at home as well. I will continue to write notes on the tops of paper for the children who are still finding it a challenge to form the cursive letters correctly.
Language: The first language test is on August 31st. It will cover pages 1-11 in the workbook. We will then begin learning about capitalization rules.
Writing: We are working on making our ideas clear and more exact as well as writing paragraphs with a topic sentence, three or more detail sentences, and a concluding sentence. We will review indenting paragraphs and making sure all sentences are complete thoughts.
Timed Tests: Timed tests are on Wednesdays. This week will be 100 addition problems in 4 minutes. Students should be studying addition and subtraction math facts every night.
Math: We are learning the material in Chapter 1. We will cover lessons 1-10 through 1-13. All students have access to the math book online. Diagnostic Checkpoint 1B is on Wednesday. You can do this as practice with your child at home if you wish. All Diagnostic Checkpoints are in the math book (and online). All Diagnostic Checkpoints done in class are graded.
Social Studies: We will start Chapter 12 in the social studies book this week on being a thoughtful consumer. .
Bible: This week's verse is I Thessalonians 5:15. "Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other..."
