Spelling Bee: The Third Grade Spelling Bee is on January 9th at 11:00 in the Blue Room. Parents of participants are welcome to attend.
Xtra Math: Please remember to have your child do Xtra Math Monday though Friday. This is a daily homework assignment. If your computer crashes, etc., please just send me a note so your child can be excused for that night's practice.
Georgia Day project: This week your child will bring home an instruction sheet on their Georgia Day project. The project has three parts: an information sheet, a poster, and a paragraph. The information sheet is due February 1st. The poster is due February 4th. The paragraph will be done in class.
The next reading challenge is to get to 225 Reading Counts points by March 14th. We will have a pizza party the following Tuesday for all those who meet the challenge.
Book Report: Students will be reading a biography this month. Students need to choose one that is a Reading Counts chapter book and have it approved by me by Thursday. When students are finished reading the book, they should take the Reading Counts test on it. The book needs to be finished and the test taken by January 24th. They will also be completing a Biography Poster at home. The Biography Poster will be handed out and the directions explained on February 11th and will be due March 1st. The lapse between finishing the book and starting the poster is due to the need to complete the Georgia Day project first. I didn't want the students to have two big projects going at the same time.
Reading: We will begin reading Shiloh. A parent letter will go home on Wednesday. The vocabulary test over the words in Chapter 1-2 will be January 14th.
